SEO: Making a step forward from Audit to SWOT Analysis

As SEO I’ve started long time ago to see a site in a different way. It’s what makes me good in what I do. It is my weakness in the same time. Because a point of view could be a blinding point in the same time.

A search engine optimization starts with an audit - an extended analysis of the site from SEO point of view. Usually includes details related to:

• spiderability – code issues, HTTP response codes, redirects
• SE friendly URLs
• visibility in search engines - number of pages indexed, number of inbound links
• site navigation
• site structure

To use or not to use hidden links

Links are one of the most important factors in rankings. So why not using hidden links? Links which are not seen by users, but seen but search engines.

Hidden links could be done in few ways:

- writing the text with the same color as background's
- using CSS div with hidden attribute
- seting font's size at 0
- including text behind a flash/image

Easy to do it. So why not?

Let's see what Google say about hidden links:

Local Search Engine Optimization- help potential customers to find you

Ranking high in the search engines is a necessity for online businesses. Optimizing the site for local search offers you the opportunity to reach potential customers looking for local services and products. Maybe it does not improve a lot the amount of traffic to your site, but surely improve the quality of your visitors. So if you own a business you can’t ignore local search. How do you optimize a site for local search? Usually search engine optimization is done for standard searches (general keywords).
